For many years, Abia State existed in what can best be described as a state of perpetual bondage, managed, patched, and recycled without genuine healing or transformation. Successive administrations came and went, yet little was visible to the world to reflect good governance, sustainable development, or people-centered leadership. Outside paid publicity and partisan praise, Abia rarely made positive headlines.
The past administrations under Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu—left Abians with more questions than answers. Roads collapsed, public infrastructure decayed, salaries and pensions became burdens rather than rights, and the confidence of the people steadily eroded. Governance became routine, not visionary. Today, the story has changed.
With the emergence of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Abia State has begun a genuine journey of renewal. In a short time, what many thought impossible has become visible and measurable. From infrastructural renewal to financial discipline, from civil service reforms to restoring dignity in governance, Abians can now see and feel the government at work.For the first time in many years, Abia is being discussed positively across Nigeria, not because of paid media propaganda, but because of visible results. Roads are being reconstructed in every community in all the Local Government Areas of the state, institutions are being strengthened, and public funds are being managed with transparency and purpose. This is governance with intent.
It is therefore not surprising that the majority of Abians, by all honest measures, are satisfied with the direction of the state, Obi di anyi uto nke ukwu, (Abia are overwhelmed in joy) The renewed hope across communities is real, and the confidence in leadership of the Messiah Ndi Abia Dr Alex Otti is growing daily.Naturally, progress attracts resistance, yes, from the enemies of progress. You can only throw at a riped fruit to pluk it down. Ndi Eriri Eri. Those that their brain box was removed, Hallelujah boys or praise singers because crumbs were given to them and out of their ignorance they thought that life ends that way. (That’s how touts behave), no futuristic plans.
Those who once benefited from a broken system, the politicians themselves, are uncomfortable with reforms. The same forces that thrived when accountability was absent in Abia now disguise themselves as opposition, not in the interest of the people, mbanu! but in a desperate attempt to regain access to public resources and to milk us dry. Ndi Obi akpoo. Their noise should not be mistaken for substance. Anyi achoghi ha.
Governor Alex Otti’s leadership reflects sincerity, competence, and compassion. Ihe ndi Abia n’acho kemgbe. His commitment to rebuilding Abia is driven not by politics alone but by a genuine desire to leave the state better than he met it. Yes, he’s a technocrat. He did the same as a bank chairman of two different renowned banks here in nigeria. That is why the fair-minded citizens speak well of him. We’ve never seen such leadership in Abia before, yes, because good work speaks louder than propaganda. As 2027 approaches, Abians must remain focused. Progress must be protected. Development must be sustained. Leadership that works must be supported once again because Abians has found a path forward, and it must not be derailed.
Come 2027, Abians will speak again, not with words alone but with their votes because ONE GOOD TURN DESERVES ANOTHER. (Ijedimma, eje ya ozo). Yagazie nu.
