When the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, declared that “Alex Otti should pray that I don’t run in 2027,” many Abians were left wondering: where was this courage when Abia was bleeding under years of failed leadership?
This statement did not come from a man who consistently stood up against bad governance in Abia State. It came from someone who maintained a strategic silence while Abia suffered monumental decay under previous administrations. Roads collapsed, salaries were owed, hospitals became shadows of themselves, and public institutions were reduced to relics — yet the loud voice we hear today was largely muted then.
Leadership is not proven by threats or bravado ahead of elections. It is proven by record, courage, and consistency. One cannot suddenly discover a voice only when power is threatened by competence and performance.
Governor Alex Chioma Otti did not inherit a functional state. He met a system in ruins — financially battered, morally broken, and infrastructurally devastated. In less than two years, Abians can already see the difference:
Roads are being constructed transparently in all the communities of this God’s own state;
Civil servants are always paid without drama.
Governance is driven by prudence, and Governor Otti is doing that, not propaganda.
Public funds are treated as sacred, not personal loot, of course we all knows he was a banker and he did wonderfully well without issues.
Rather than constructive criticism or offering better alternatives in support of thegood work happening in Abia, some politicians like Hon. Ben have chosen intimidation rhetoric in the name “I’m number 6th man in the country. Bikonu imagine telling a sitting governor to “pray”, very laughable Umunnem. That sounds less like confidence and more like panic in the face of performance., O yes! If Rt. Hon. Benjamin truly believes he has the capability and a superior vision for Abia, the people will judge him, but not by statements, but by his past actions and present courage. Ndi Abia are no longer impressed by political noise everywhere, just to romance ego and motivation ignoramus and gullible followers. Ndi Abia are now asking serious questions:
(1) Where were you when Abia was drowning?
(2) What did you say when our commonwealth was looted by past administrations allegedly?
(2) Who did you challenge when governance collapsed?
The era of empty threats is over. Ndi Abia ibem has tasted purposeful leadership under Dr Alex Otti, and it will not be bullied into retreating to the dark days, Chukwu ajuu. We saw hell in the past administrations, and never again says Ndi Abia. We are wising up.
In a nutshell, 2027 will not be decided by who boasts the loudest, but by who has proven love for Ndi Abia through action, sacrifice, and truth. Remember that Obu ije dimma Ejekwozo (ONE GOOD TURN DESERVES ANOTHER). Yagazie nu!
